Overview
A fully funded 2-year postdoc position is available at the laboratory of computational protein design (https://vorobievalab.sites.vib.be/en) at the Center for Structural Biology, Brussels, Belgium. We aim to develop a vaccine against the syphilis-causing agent Treponema pallidum based on engineered/designed transmembrane beta-barrel proteins. Our lab combines experimental and computational approaches to engineer membrane proteins and transmembrane pores for biomedical and biotechnology applications.
Your profile
Required
- Recent Ph.D. in biochemistry, chemistry, or bio-engineering sciences.
- Keen interest in protein design and an engineering-oriented mindset.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication.
Appreciated but not required
Demonstrated experience in one of the following:
- recombinant expression, purification, and reconstitution of membrane proteins in detergent micelles and synthetic membranes.
- protein engineering and/or design of nano-biomaterials.
Experience with research valorization and IP will be regarded as a plus.
