GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

With a direct report to the Workshop Manager, this position has responsibility for technical hands-on service,

repair and maintenance of the Manitou machine range, as well as all functions associated with workshop staff

control.

The primary focus is to attend to all technical aspects in order to repair and maintain Manitou machines.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide customers with service and support to ensure maximum efficiency.
  • Provide technical staff with technical solutions (problem solver)
  • Provide technical feedback to manager.
  • Manage all service, repairs and maintenance as required per application.
  • Provide complete and accurate parts and labour planning on every job pack.
  • Request parts from Parts dept and ensure inquiries with regards to backorder parts are performed regularly.
  • Diagnose all mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic failures to determine proper solutions and to produce

timely and detailed service reports and parts requirements.

  • Ensure all pre-determined deadlines are maintained and adhered too.
  • Perform duties while having a hands-on attitude.
  • Perform pre-QC inspections on all completed jobs.
  • Share skills and knowledge obtained with all technical staff.
  • Assist workshop manager in daily tasks.
  • Assist in daily planning of technicians.
  • Manage all incoming and outgoing machines from and to Manitou Centre JHB yard
  • Manage technicians and technician assistants.
  • Manage movement of machines in the workshop area.
  • Ensure technicians perform at the highest efficiency possible.
  • Collaborate with various departments within Manitou SA and Manitou Centre JHB and share information

across the organization to build positive relationships with customers and coworkers.

  • Operate any type of machine in a safe and controlled manner with the appropriate operator’s card.
  • To carry out any reasonable work request given by management.
  • To carry out all tasks given in accordance with environmental, health and safety guidelines provided by the

company.

EDUCATION:

  • Qualified diesel Technician with a Red Seal
  • Matric (Gr 12)
  • Hydraulic knowledge
  • Auto electric knowledge
  • Mechanical knowledge
  • Product Knowledge
  • Operator Competency on all Manitou related equipment and machines.

EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 4 years’ experience in a supervisory field.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in workshop environment.

  • Excellent people skills.
  • Internal and external communication skills.
  • Excellent read and write in English.

  • Understanding of Manitou Centre JHB health and safety policies.

INTERNAL/EXTERNAL CONNECTIONS:

  • Works in partnership with all departments within Manitou Centre to ensure close alignment.
  • Represents the company as appropriate in its relationships with customers and suppliers.

LOCATION & EXPECTED TRAVEL:

  • This position is based at Proton Industrial Park, South Africa

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: R40,000.00 - R45,000.00 per month
